Ah, the joys of being back in school...
I have been spending most of today working on assignments that are due this week. I have one due Tuesday, two Friday, and I need to have one started for Saturday morning. Tomorrow's is done - we had to create a basic webpage for ourselves. Click here if you want to see mine. I think I've got the one for Friday done; I'm just waiting on a response from the prof before I actually submit it. Now it's onto the second one for Friday which involves some reading and a lab exercise, followed by a mini-assessment.
Why do I feel stressed when the due dates are so far away? Because this week promises to be a busy one. In addition to spending Tuesday and Thursday at A Rocha, I will also be there Thursday evening through to Friday evening as we are having a 'National Forum' this weekend. Basically, we get to meet with all those who work for A Rocha in Canada (including our Manitoba team) as well as key representatives from AR USA and AR International, and reflect on/share what we've been doing and where we're going. It promises to be a great event but it means I need all my homework done and handed in by Wednesday night.
Following the Forum, I have class from 9-12 Saturday morning and when I get home we're having a group of our friends over to see our new place. It should be a good time, but I need to fit some prep in for that before Wednesday evening too.
I guess it's time to quit procrastinating and get back to work.
Pictures will come next week, when the chaos of this week is past.

city-living
It's about time to start updating this site again. Amazing how easy it is to fall out of a habit. I'll do my best to get back into it.
Today I went for a walk to the post office with a quick stop at Staples. I'm really enjoying this city-living thing. Very different from living in the suburbs, that is for sure. I think it'll be a major blessing for us too, as it means we can easily get by with only one vehicle. If it wasn't for our almost weekly trips to Abbotsford, we could probably even live without one and hardly notice the difference! We're about 10-15 minutes away from Save-On and Richmond Centre shopping mall, as well as many, many different restaurants - and that's 15 minutes walking, not driving!
This month I started going to A Rocha twice a week (Tuesdays in addition to the regular Thursdays), settling into what I hope will be my regular routine for the next while. It takes me 2 buses and about an hour and a half total to make the commute there but I'm actually enjoying it. It feels good to finally be able to use the option of transit plus I get to by-pass the traffic jam at the tunnel and don't need to stress about sitting in traffic - not to mention the benefits of having one less car on the road using gas and emitting pollutants. Now I just need to learn how to keep the motion sickness under control so I can read for longer than 10 minutes!
I'm also taking 3 online classes through BCIT, so I work on those Monday, Wednesday & Friday. And until the end of October, I'm taking a Saturday morning course at BCIT, which is about 45 minutes away by bus. The classes are going well although it feels a bit weird to be back in school, but also good because I'm excited about what I'm learning.
I will try to start posting the backlog of photos soon, including highlights from the wedding, our honeymoon in Jasper, camping at Spanish Lake, and of course, our new home.
